    Nice. What size wok? How do you control the fire?

  • 13" wok on (cheap) charcoal not my usual BGE. You can only control on the bottom, I left it open, specially since the wok is closing almost everything and it can't be hot enough for a wok cook it is anyway a short cook!

    Is that the original fire ring in yours? It looks like your sits closer to the felt than mine does. I am on the fence about my woo. I don't know if I am over filling with charcoal or if my woo isn't sitting right.

    For those that don't have a wok yet, I highly recommend adding to your arsenal. I bought Grace Youngs "stir fry to sky's edge" and have produced some eggscellent dishes. I did a cashew chicken this weekend that almost looked as good as @DutchMiniMax's above.

  • Yes that is the original fire ring, also first time i used my kickash basket! You can put the woo in high and low position. This time it was on high

    Is there room for a 14" wok the way you are using it? I figured the dome would interfere.
    Coleman, Texas
    Large BGE & Mini Max for the wok. A few old camp Dutch ovens and a wood fired oven. LSG 24” cabinet offset smoker. There are a few paella pans and a Patagonia cross in the barn. A curing chamber for bacterial transformation of meats...
    "Bourbon slushies. Sure you can cook on the BGE without them, but why would you?"

  • I think you can go 14", but not sure why, since yes it will be tighter, specially if you want to take it out to shuffle your food and put it back on, larger can be not practical.

    I use a 16" with the same set up to deep fry.

    @DutchMiniMax I have two 14" woks with 30 years of seasoning on them - I was just curious if they would fit.
    @theyolksonyou Thanks!

    I saw your signature line but, is the MM your 1st & only BGE?  I only ask because it would seem to be the norm of it typically being a 2nd or 3rd eggdition. Another shot of your table also if you have one avail. (custom right?)

  • Yes it is the only Egg I own since a couple of months, i'm based in EU and prices are different here, for a MM you pay $875 in this moment, since I cook mostly for two persons and not sure if I would like it (I love it!) I started with the MM and seriously don't see a reason to go bigger in this moment. The table is very simple, we call it a "doggy" it just wood on four wheels that you use to move furniture, and painted it green. It works perfect you can role true the garden and easily move it out or in the wind if needed or away if there is to much smoke. I will make a picture of it later.
