Moving Day Question?

Hey All!  I'm not a big poster, but I frequent the forum quite often.  I always get great info and ideas here. So, I thought I would reach out for advice, tips or opinions on moving my XL BGE.  We're only moving a mile away, but with movers and the hectic nature of this whole deal, I'm concerned about moving the Egg without breaking anything.  It's in a stainless steel cart and I plan to remove all the innards prior to loading it in the truck.  Any other advice?  BTW, the owner of the local moving company is an egger.  So, he understands, but I doubt he'll be there during the move.  I appreciate any advice in advance!!!

    it's ok to leave everything in there.  You can put some cardboard or thin pieces of wood between the firebox/ring and sides.  Tie the lid closed.  I think the odds of breaking the firebox or ring by pulling them out and transporting separately are greater than leaving them in situ.

    When I moved with my Large Egg three years ago all I did was remove everything from the inside, attached the things that came with it to hold the lid down and the the movers moved it. Mine were insured so I figured if they broke it then I would get a new one. The move went fine and the egg was fine. My move was about 8-10 miles.

    Much like Brimee, I left mine as it was.  Shoot, I left mine in the table.  My movers just tapped, wrapped and moved it like everything else in the house.

    They're bonded in case something breaks. I'd let them be responsible for it. That's what you're paying them for.

    Thanks everybody.   A whole house full of stuff and I'm most concerned about the Egg. Nice to come to a place where others understand!

    When we moved from Chicago to Austin last November, my mover removed the innards and wrapped/boxed them. Then strapped the egg down in it's table and rolled it on the truck. Not a scratch.

    When he arrived at our house in Chicago to load, I told him that there were two items that had to make it to Texas safely or no tip: My bar and my Egg. 

    He laughed and said he had an Egg at home and had moved many and not to worry.

    He and his crew got a generous tip.
