So i didn't get the time to stop in the dealer in upstate SC to get my MiniMax last week but i was just looking over it and it states the MM is 90lbs? is that correct? I think it said 70 at one point and the KJ JR is 68 last i checked.... Also do i buy platesetter or skip for a rig? its going to be primarily butt grill for inlaw visits and stay at firehouse (Locked in locker) when not in use...

It's freaking heavy. Skip the platesetter and get the woo combo.Slumming it in Aiken, SC.

You're right on KJ Jr.
No idea on the MM.John in the Willamette Valley of Oregon -
According to the mothership, 90#. It is a heavy little dude. I can move it short distances no problem, but if I'm going far I put the wife one on side.

It can be a bit heavy trying to move it around. I got one of these carts from Dicks sporting goods to help tote the MM around while on vacation. http://www.dickssportinggoods.com/product/index.jsp?productId=23203456 It's been working out pretty well.

not only is it heavy, but its a little awkward to move by yourself. should be manageable for any decent sized male in any moderate shape. I'm not in-shape, nor strong or big but can move it the 30 feet from garage to patio fairly easily. Share the same sentiment above that if i was moving it more than that someone would be on the other side of it.
But I do love it.------------------------------------------------------------------------LBGE 2013 - MiniMax 2015 - Seemingly every accessory the fine folks at CGS sell - Fightin' Texas Aggie till I die - Gig 'Em - Located in the bright lights of Dallas -
Heavy - yes.
Portable - ehh, yes
I have the plate setter because I have enough accessories for my large. It works great. I've done a 10lb butt on it before. But 90% of the time I use it it's for higher heat direct cooks. Steaks, chops, chicken etc.
Fish, Hunt, Cook....anything else?

I don't see how it could weight more than the small and the site shows the small is 80#. Maybe they weigh it in the carrier but the small has more ceramic. It seems the extra ceramic would outweigh the carrier.
Someone put their MM on a scale for science.Which came first the chicken or the egg? I egged the chicken and then I ate his leg. -
I believe with the PS & full of lump it's around 64# give or take a # depending on if it has a WOO, KAB, CI grid, etcLBGE 2013 & MM 2014Die Hard HUSKER & BRONCO FANFlying Low & Slow in "Da Burg" FL

With woo, no stone 74# which I believe is what was reported early on.

I've been impressed with my KJ jr. I bought it to have a mobile cooking platform and it's not as heavy as the MM. The stand is a bit higher, which is a plus when lifting off the ground.Dave - Austin, TX

I bought the plate setter, but wish now I would have just got the woo combo. As far as the weight of the MM...you are a fireman...I bet you can handle it.Houston, Texas
Large, MiniMax, and another Large. -
The woo combo with drip pan works very well. Glad I didn't buy the PS, but I knew going in from my large I wanted a woo. Need to pull the trigger on the large woo.
-
Yessss Its not the fact of IF i can handle it but the older i get, the more i try to be smart and think wisely before just buying something i tote back and forth a lot that is too heavy..dboram said:I bought the plate setter, but wish now I would have just got the woo combo.
