Weird brown secretion from egg...

Hello.
After a week of rain, there is some mold in my egg. So I started doing a clean burn (got to 1000+ degrees - should have been monitoring it instead of going back to work!). When I checked back, I see this weird web pattern on the surface and a brown secretion. It's dried out so I couldn't even wipe it off...
Any idea what this stuff may be? My deck smells like burnt stale oil from the clean burn...
Thanks.

Dave it's not uncommon at all with a lot of rain. I keep my eggs inside so I never have this problem.1 XXL BGE, 1 LG BGE, 2 MED. BGE, 1 MINI BGE, 1 Peoria custom cooker Meat Monster.Clinton, Iowa

Nothing to worry about, just moisture wicking out of the ceramics---------------------------------------------------------------------------------Well, "spa-Peggy" is kind of like spaghetti. I'm not sure what Peggy does different, if anything. But it's the one dish she's kind of made her own.____________________Aurora, Ontario, Canada

Thanks guys. I was afraid to use a wet paper towel to wipe off fearing to crack it. That would be devastating.

It's the evil spirits of the Vegetarian Gods casting a spell on your egg.....
Next time you cook, once you shut down, hit it with a wet rag or some simple green cleaner, and you'll be just fine!LBGE since 2014

Happens all the time. Just use a Clorox wipe or something similar and it will be as good as new.

I use Simple Green with good results. It's just moisture that's carrying grease.

I usually wipe after doing business. That way the brown stuff doesn't harden and cause irritation.Flint, Michigan
