Remote Thermometer Suggestions

I have had a Mav 732 for about a year and a half. Have had no problems at all, and love it, Very dependable.
It's about 60 feet from my Egg to my man chair, works great.
I have wrapped the probes in foil and am using the originals.
When it does die of old age, I may go to the 733. but, I will go Maverick.John in the Willamette Valley of Oregon -
The 733 does feel cheaply made. I've been using mine for a bit over a year though and it's held up fine. I haven't had to replace probes yet. Every other remote thermometer I've used, the probes have given up within 6 months or so. (Never immerse them in water when washing.) Getting the settings programmed in is not at all intuitive, so don't lose the instructions until you get the hang of it!
On a related note I've been working on a very inexpensive ($10) wifi-based thermometer that sends temps out to the cloud. I'll hopefully post a working demo soon.

@blind99 ... functional specs should include the ability to wake the operator up in the middle of the night if the pit temps go too high or low. I really do like the wifi capability of the Flame Boss, but one ding on the phone for an arriving text is not going to wake me up.
Maybe when Michael & Co. get the high/low pit temp warnings programmed in to the 200, I'll see if there is an android app that keeps ringing when a text arrives from a specific phone number.

@Jeepster47 mine is really basic. I'm self-teaching myself basic circuits and microprocessor programming. But There's a really active "internet of things" community - I'm sure someone could add the functionality very easilyChicago, IL - Large and Small BGE - Weber Gasser and Kettle

cajunbill ..I use Mav 732, have never had a problem.
I did order longer-wired probes though. Nothing was wrong....Longer is just more convenient.
I've had mine for 1.5 years...works just like brand new...over 50-60 low and slow cooks.
As far as placement of grate temp probe...just clip to grate and keep it a couple inches from food and over a platesetter leg to protect it from the direct fire. I also put HDAF on mine just to protect it more from heat and drippings.
