Quick Prawns in the UK Sun
It reached 37c/98.6f in some parts of the UK yesterday. As such, I didn't want the egg to be fired up for any longer than necessary. My thoughts went straight to seafood, as it's generally quick to cook. I then raided the freezer for some large raw king prawns.
I made a marinade of olive oil, garlic, finely chopped lemon rind, flat leaf parsley, coriander, salt and pepper.

I then cooked indirectly still in their tray at 200c/400f literally for 5 minutes.

Then plated up, with peperonata (an Italian style pepper, onion and tomatoe stew) the prawns, then some shredded Chinese leaf lettuce/cabbage coated in Caesar dressing, with some of the marinade drizzled round the edge, and coriander leaves.

I snuffed the egg out as soon as I'd taken the prawns off to try and avoid any additional heat in the garden! Probably nothing compared to what a lot of you guys endure, but for over here, it was pretty damn hot!
Cheers!

Wow! All of this traditional, boring, English cuisine you're serving up is awesome!---------------------------------------------------------------------------------Well, "spa-Peggy" is kind of like spaghetti. I'm not sure what Peggy does different, if anything. But it's the one dish she's kind of made her own.____________________Aurora, Ontario, Canada

Haha, maybe I'll try fish and chips on the Egg as that's all we eat over here. That and roast beef with yorkshire pudding!

@Thatgrimguy That's what I thought!! I don't know how you cope with it. I guess you have air conditioning? There's no point having it here (apart from in your car) as we only get the weather to benefit from it a couple of times a year!

**** yeah I have Air Conditioning! I don't mind the heat or the ridiculous humidity. But let it drop below 50f (10c) and I'm miserable. I HATE winter. And I'm in an area that still does drop below freezing a couple times a year.CriggyBites said:@Thatgrimguy That's what I thought!! I don't know how you cope with it. @TexanOfTheNorth Things are a changing. The UK has gone mad for cooking recently, cooking shows and competitions all over the TV. The celebrity chef thing is massive. Right now is a great time to eat out over here, lots of amazing restaurants, the American style BBQ restaurants and burger shacks are popping up everywhere. There's one about 8 miles away from here called The Smoke Pit which is awesome. Your FIL is missing out! Here's a picture of their house platter. Brisket, pulled pork, ribs, wings and smoked sausage.
