Smokeware Cap Order is Placed

After reading the heated debates on this forum, I finally pulled the trigger on the Smokeware cap but opted not to get the flat cap.

My plan is to continue using the ceramic cap to snuff the fire. Is this a viable plan? I'm assuming the new cap and come on and off easily?

That will work.  If you use the felt that comes with the SW cap it will be tight, but it can be removed.

Personally, for the cost I think the flat cap is a nice addition.  It is not necessary though.

I would rather light a candle than curse your darkness.

Yeah I use the ceramic, if the flat was available would have just purchased that as well but not going out of my way to get it.

I don't bother, shut the bottom, shut the SW. Go eat.

Be prepared for the inevitable "you're doing it wrong" posts. Some folks completely unravel at the thought that someone might want to try something other than what they do!  :o

I haven't touched the ceramic cap since installing the SW cap. I suspect that might happen to you, too, since the lower half of the SW cap gets quite hot & a goodly half of the benefit of this thing is not having to switch the top when you're done. You can just twist it closed & be done with it. I'm interested to hear how it works out.
