Cracked base

just discovered a crack in my base. Other than a warranty claim, do you do anything else? In other words, do you treat it like a cracked firebox and keep using the cracked one?

Sorry to hear that... depends on where the crack is and what your egg is sitting on. If it's minor I would proceed with caution, low n slows should be alright, I wouldn't be doing any hi heat pizza's or burn outs. When mine was cracked, I kept it under 400 till it was replaced. Also, if it's in the nest, it should help to keep it together with the crack, if you have in a table you may have different results...
Take plenty of pics and email Bruce at BGE HQ... the warranty process should be pretty painless

Why risk it? Get a new one under warranty.

Hearth and patio will take good care of you. Mine broke a few weeks back and in less than two weeks got a new base. Warranty of course.
