Top not lined up....

Happy Fathers day to me!   As many of you have I brought home a one time used large from a competition today.  Lifting from the hinge was to risky because the top was moving to much so I loosened it and removed it.

Now reassembling it looks like I have over a 1/4" overlay in the front.   Normal?

Thanks in advance for the many posts to come ;-)

Same exact boat brother.  I've had the lid removed from mine at least 5 times and have reset it I don't know how many different ways.  I'll have it perfect with perfect seal all around and the first time I open if it all goes south.

I just picked it up yesterday and this is driving me nuts!
  • Apparently the small underbite is just not fixable.  I was at Roswell Hardware last week and asked about fixing underbite and was told pretty emphatically "nothing can be done about it!"  They weren't mean, just emphatic that it's a known event and not fixable.

Full props for Shorewood True Value in MN!  http://www.shorewoodtruevalue.com/

They sent a tech out to try & adjust my cover and was obvious it was not going to work.  I live 45 min away and they did not hesitate to go back for a new one and replace it.   all with in a few hrs.

Remember I saved $400 on a one day used one from the event and ended up with a shinny clean new one.

I will be going back soon to load up on accessories to try and even things up.  Oh the pain!  ;-)

    Thanks

I had a similiar issue with mine and just had to replace the band bolts and tighten them up evenly. Fixed it perfect. Strange they had to replace the dome.

The original dome may have been out of round. It happens!

I got a replacement dome for mine because it was not round, it was 1/4 inch shorter from front to back which contributed to my under-bite of a half inch.  With the replacement it's back to 1/4 inch.  I need to see if I can readjust it, but at least it doesn't leak air anymore.

I fiddled with the lid on my XL for hours and the best I could get was a 1/4" underbite. It doesn't leak and my gasket isn't frying so I'm not going to mess with it anymore.
