Fixing to go pick up a large BGE and am needing some advice.
I generally cook full packer brisket and ribs in my Cookshack and when I do I also generally make a pan of beans along with them. I put them in towards the end of the smoke. I don't really see doing more than a couple of racks of full spares or a single brisket or pork butt at a time. As far as steaks and burgers I'm sure the factory BGE setup would work fine enough. I think?
So what setup should I go with? Do I need the BGE platesetter or should I just get a Woo2 or AR setup? I do need 2 racks and a platesetter of some type but which platesetter? I do like the idea of getting the rack up to gasket level or close but would hate to run out of room after spending the money.
I've watched videos and poured over the CGS site till I'm blue in the face. Can you help a fella out with some advice?

The adjustable rig will cost you a little more than a plate setter and extended grid, but it's a lot more flexible. The problem with extended grids that you put on your main cooking grid is that their legs typically reduce the amount of cooking space on your main grid more than the AR will.
Also, no matter what you think your aspirations are now, I think they will increase in the future as you see what's possible -- and fun -- with the Egg.
So if you can afford the $80 or so difference between the AR R/B combo and a plate setter/extended grid, I think you'll pretty quickly see the benefit.
That said, you can probably do just what you say you want to with a plate setter and extended grid.
Good luck and welcome!

I would SPEAK with Tom At CGS.. It won't be a hard sell, tell him what you want to do short and medium/ long term. He treated us very well, sold us just what we needed. I've since expanded the AR into a veritable erector set. You are correct, the site IS intimidating, UNTIL you own a few pieces. It is then quite easy to add what you want.

I definitely will call CGS. Just as soon as I have my egg in hand. I have my Cookshack sold so I'm going to try and pick one up tomorrow. Last week when I was in they said they had an order coming in for Father's Day sales and it would be about a week so it should be getting close.
I'm pretty sure the suggested AR R&B combo is going to be the route I need to go, at least initially. It looks pretty sweet. So I guess I'll just forgo the platesetter for the time being. I don't mind spending the money, I just want to make sure it's on what I will use.
Thanks for the help guys! -
This is a very good reason to get the XLColumbus, Ohio--A Gasser filled with Matchlight and an Ugly Drum.

I would love to have a cookshack electric smoker.
I started to buy one of the Fast Eddy pellet smoker a while back. The one I was looking at was the FEC300 Rotisserie Smoker. I had planned on selling butts on the weekend at my families business.
I think one of the smaller cookshack electrics wood be great to have. -
@GregW The Cookshack products are absolutely 1st rate. My only issue with it was it was a smoker only. I'm going to miss this one, but my new LBGE is going to keep me pretty happy. I just picked one up today, put it together, and grilled some awesome steaks.

Bam! I couldn't even take time to get pics of the steaks!

I was hoping you maybe still had the cookshack and I could get a chance to buy it from you. I have 2 large eggs an cast iron hibachi and a Portable Kitchen Grill (PK) and I was hoping to pickup a cookshack.
As you can see I'm a bit of a collector. -
