jackbythesea,[p]Jack, I've not done this on the BGE but on my old gasser I spent many years peeling back the husk, stripping the silk, returning the husk, and soaking in water (tips up) for an hour or so. This steams the corn. The outer husk layer(s) will blacken but the inside layers will protect it. [p]Having said that, I watched enough Food Network last year to finally try it by removing the husk and silk completely. It is awesome!! Keep rotating the ears so that they carmelize evenly and you won't be dissapointed.
  • Hawkeye,
I just put them on the grill, unmolested, and let them cook for about 1/2 hour.[p]Awesome!

  • NewEgglander,
Thanks, I presume you soak it in water first for a while, yes?

    jackbythesea,
I soak the ears, husk, silks and all, about 30 minutes. Then I wrap each ear in foil and put them directly on the grill for 30 minutes (turning after 15 minutes).[p]When you take them off and open the packets, the silks come right off along with the husks.[p]Ken

    jackbythesea,
No sir, just put them strait on. A little butter or garlic butter in the bottom of a large dish makes a great place to put them when you take them off the grill.[p]Bruce
