Trying out some wings.

Thought I'd give it my first shot at some wings and ABT's. Trying it raised indirect at 350 for about an hour.
I'll post more pics with the final product.

You have a very neat prep tray and cooking grid, OCD?  They look awesome BTW. I wish I was as neat and organized. I end up moving everything around on the grid to fit due to poor planning and placement.

They ended up being amazing! Wife and kids (who were all skeptical, being a first time egger) devoured every morsel!
I think I'm turning them into believers:)

Only huccup was this was the first time using the plate setter. What a mess it is now. The cheese from the ATBs expanded and dripped down along with the wing drippings. I should have foiled it like so many suggested.
pgprescott - maybe a little OCD!? Not a bad thing. right?

Of course not. Just an observation, not name calling. Just scrape the bits off with a putty knife and turn the setter over.  The gunk will burn right off. You can do it at the end of the cook or next time. It will return to glory just fine. Keep em coming! Great job!!!

I wrap my platesetter with foil & change it when needed-stays looking like new!

Good looking stuff.  I gave up trying to keep my PS clean a long time ago, but then my prep doesn't look like yours either  :)
THANK YOU FOR YOUR ATTENTION TO THIS MATTER
  • What did you use on wings?  Looks like some rub and then maybe you added sauce later?

yup, rubbed with Three Little Pigs Kansas City BBQ Rub and then applied some Kentucky Bourbon sauce in the last five mins. I prefer heat with my wings, so although this was nice for the family...it was "ok" with me. Flavour was amazing but lacked in the heat department. Actually, my favourite wings are in a dry Cajun rub with a little suicide sauce on the side. Can anyone recommend a sweet Cajun rub I could try to get my hands on? I realize I'll probably have to order it online.
