Gatlinburg, Tn

My family and I am headed to Gatlinburg to meet up with my dad for some camping. I am bringing the medium with us. Do y'all have any recommendations for butchers in that area? I am trying to get my pops from cooking boring hotdogs and boring meals, lol. TIA

Not familiar with the area, but you can always grab some stuff from your butcher on the way out and throw it on ice.

Never have noticed one right in Gatlinburg. You may have to head down to Pigeon Forge or Sevierville to find a butcher shop.

My guess would be Sevierville would be your best bet. Pigeon Forge and Gatliburg are all about the tourists.

    I probably pack a cooler.

You got that right.  Rented a nice cabin for our first anniversary in PF.  Took 20 mins to go from one stop light to the other.  I tried my best to stay away from that tourist trap road.

Thanks for the advice. It looks like I will be hitting up my local, The Meat House in northern Virginia, before heading out. I damn sure don't want to be stuck at light for 20 minutes. lol

I would definitely get on google maps and look at back roads to get from the interstate to gatlinburg. Assuming you're coming down thru Bristol to Sevierville.

Once you hit pigeon forge, you can make a left on Teaster at light #2 ( I think) and follow that to the end, make a right and back to the main rd. That skips the worst part of PF.   bonus: it takes you right by the Lodge outlet store.  =)

Stay off the parkway for sure. Ive been so much I know all the backroads to go from Gatlinburg all the way to I-40 and never get stuck. Have fun on your trip. I have been reading about extremely heavy bear sighting this year. Just last week a boy was attacked while camping with his dad. Just follow the safety rules and keep your eyes open.

@gamason , we will keep that little tidbit to our selves. I don't need the hetero life mate freaking out and going all primal protective instinct with our 2 year old. lol

Also, hit up All Sauced Up on the parkway and also in Gatliburg for some great sauces, salsas, jellies etc... They have some rubs as well.

Lots of stuff out to sample.
