Does anyone out there have a good Hot Dog recipe? I have one that is ok but I'm sure that one of you eggers have a better one and is willing to share. Thanks a bunch..

I have 2 that are both rediculously easy.
1. Travel to The Varsity and order 3 with Chili or Slaw
2. Travel to a Braves Game and order a Jumbo Dog.[p]As far as on the Egg I just throw them on there and grill them, or better yet do some brats.[p]:)

are you looking for an actual how to make a hot dog from scratch recipe or hot dog fixings. chuck lanes varsity chili sauce is about the best there is. i also like rhode island weiner sauce. instead of browning the meat i like lanes method of starting with a cold beer and bringing the burger to a simmer. it makes for a better consistancy. either sauce, mustard on the dog, sauce on that, chopped onions on top of the sauce, celery salt lightly dusted. you can also stuff hotdogs with cheese and bacon wrap

this is the rhode island sauce recipe ive been using. you can crank up the heat, but i think the recipe is good as is.[p]
This hearty, flavorful wiener sauce is like the kind you'll find in Rhode Island and Massachusetts. It may be frozen until ready for use. Use premium grilled wieners cooked in butter, steamed hot dog buns and the fancy mustard of your choice. Spread with mustard, the sauce, chopped onions and celery salt... in that order. If you have a delicate digestive system, use with caution.
Prep Time: approx. 20 Minutes. Cook Time: approx. 1 Hour . Ready in: approx. 1 Hour 20 Minutes. Makes 12 servings.
[p]3 pounds ground beef
2 teaspoons chili powder
2 teaspoons dry mustard
1/2 teaspoon ground allspice
1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
1/2 teaspoon onion salt
1/2 teaspoon garlic salt
1/2 teaspoon celery salt
1/4 teaspoon minced fresh
ginger root
1 teaspoon ground cumin
1/2 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
1 teaspoon soy sauce
10 ounces ketchup [p]Directions
1 Place ground beef in a large, deep skillet. Cook over
medium high heat until evenly brown; drain.
2 Mix the chili powder, dry mustard, allspice, nutmeg,
onion salt, garlic salt, celery salt, ginger root, cumin,
Worcestershire sauce, soy sauce and ketchup into the skillet. Simmer
at least 1 hour, until a desirable consistency has been

This is the one similiar to what BobbyQ is possibly referring to. [p]Chili, Beef, Hot Dog, Varsity, Chuck Lane
Here's the best I've found so far. This is just about as good as the chili at the Varsity here in Atlanta. They make great chili dogs!
[p]Ingredients:
1 lb ground chuck
1 3/4 cups water
2 Tbs chile powder
2 tsp paprika
1/4 tsp cayenne pepper
1/2 tsp cumin
1/2 tsp granulated garlic
1 tsp granulated onion
2 tsp salt
1 dash tobasco sauce
Directions:
1 Put water and all ingredients except meat into saucepan and stir well.
2 Add meat, breaking it up with your fingers as you go.
3 Bring to a boil, reduce heat to a simmer and leave uncovered until nearly all water is gone and the consistency is the way you like it.
4 On the EGG, bring the cooker up to about 350. Allow the chili to cook until texture is the way you want. It may require adding more water and allowing it to cook off.

thin bacon and american cheese or cheddar cut into logs stuffed into a half way split dog. cook raised grill at about 275. i like them also with linguica or chourico, kielbasa may be good too. with the longer cooks with the sausages you need to build a dam at the ends with cheddar with the softer cheeses inbound and par cook the sausage and cool before stuffing. chourico is my favorite, eat the stuff almost daily
