leftover pulled pork

I would appreciate some of your tips on serving left over pulled pork. I just completed my first lo and slo butt cook. It was delicious, at least on the evening I cooked it. The leftovers were stored overnight in a tightly sealed tupperware bowl. I used the coca cola method I read about to reheat it. I'm sorry to say the results were not good. I am sure the coke did not hurt it but it did not give it the fresh cooked taste that I had hoped for. Any other suggestions?

budrow, sorry to hear that you didn't care for the results of the Coke method - but to each his own. Curious how much meat did you have and what was your source of heat as it has to be a slow warm up otherwise you could carmalize the Coke.

  • budrow,[p]I always foodsaver mine. Then put it in boiling water for 10 minutes or so frozen. Tastes like the day it was smoked.

budrow,[p]Like folks have said, the best way to reheat is vacuum sealed bags in boiling water. If you don't have that, what has worked well for me is reheating the pork in a steamer... and instead of boiling water for the steam, you can use apple juice with cider vinegar or beer or whatever.[p]Last resort is a microwave which will decently do the job but you may want to add a little liquid to the pork prior to nuking if it is a bit dry.
    Hope this helps.[p]john

    <p />budrow,
i vacuum pack it with about 6 sandwiches worth with a tblspoon of coke and a tablspoon of chicken broth and it reheats great in boiling water. i tried reheating in straight coke in a crock and it was sickly sweet for my tastes. just a little with some broth is better. if you like fiery hot get a recipe for pork vindaloo or get some from penzeys. great over basmati rice. abt's are great too with a pork stuffing. if you make the vindaloo make sure to have something to quench your thirst.

  • WooDoggies,[p]I nuke them in the microwave, in the vacuum sealed bags.... It heats up faster and the heat is retained by using the vacuum sealed bags... I found that sometimes the bags leak when you boil them...

Thanks, Scottie... I'll have to give that a try.
