I cooked this steak sauce last week after a cooking lesson with Montreal Joe Beef owner and chef. It was the highlight of the evening! I highly recommend trying it out as it is unique and full of flavors.

Thanks so much. Not much on steak sauce but plan to give this one a try.*******Owner of a large and a beloved mini in Philadelphia

Sounds a bit like it may taste like HP fruity sauce.

It is a thick sauce, very different to HP. A balance between sugar, vinegar, tangy, fruity, spicy and fatty. It has no equivalent. I used it in steak and burgers and fell in love with it. I never use HP sauce on my steaks, normally just Montreal steak seasoning. How can I describe it. Maybe a mix of HP, demiglace sauce and chutney in a thick kind of way?? Im getting confused myself lol. I rarely go out of my way to recommend something, but this is a must try.I actually did this version, http://aladistasio.telequebec.tv/recettes/recette.aspx?id=1252 but its french. Its very close from the original recipe except:Use Earl gray tea or your favorite tea instead of just hot water to soak the prunes. And add to the recipe:2 more anchovy filetand a dried out spicy pepper like jamaican (I used a single very small dried peperoncino my parents brought back from Italy like these: http://tinyurl.com/lf3qmj6Quebec - Canada

I will try it.....but think I will omit the prunes.....That said, these ingratiates seem readily available and you get relatively quick finished product.
