Did a clean burn and it exposed some cracks - warranty claim

Looks like I'll be contacting my dealer for warranty replacements. I hadn't noticed the cracks in the firebox and ring until after the burn. Glad I did it. Not sure they'll warranty the CI grate or not though. The clean burn was at 550° for about an hour and a half.

Give it some more time.  If you replace them every time you get a crack, it's going to be non stop.  Once you get a few cracks intersecting, or the firebox starts to crumble, then get a new one.  All three of my fireboxes and fire rings have cracks in them....they've been there for five years.

Yeah, I wasn't really sure how to proceed. Is there a reason to wait? Wouldn't the warranty cover replacement any time it cracks?

My box is in 2 pieces. Has been since I broke it moving in 08. Doesn't effect nuttin.

Have had the Egg since 05 or so....only done 1 burn. I don't cook on the side or dome of it so I never have had any "dirty" food come off of it...

I agree with Jonathan - in addition I think of cracks in the fire ring and fire box as being stress removers! Now the dome and base - well those cracks are a different matter!

I have my replacement firebox in the garage. Figure as long as the other one is maintaining temp I'll just keep it in there til I really need it.

The grate has a 5 yr warranty, so you might want to get that fixed.  Otherwise, the ceramic is life time, so give it a few more cracks.  The new one will crack too

It's definitely not affecting the cook, I have two bone-in chicken breasts on there right now. =) I suppose I could just go ahead and get the replacements are store them until I need them or just wait as @stlcharcoal suggested. I will go ahead and make a claim on the grate.

I say get new ones. The newer ones come with a built in crack to help stop that. Who wants a $1000 grill with cracked parts?

Make the claim on your grate and see what kind of time you are talking about for getting your replacement. Some dealers keep things on hand and you will walk out with your replacement that day. Others you will have to wait till they do another BGE order and depending on size of store you could be waiting a week or two, or you could be waiting a couple months.
