Just installed my new Rutland gasket

Installation was super easy and the instructions from RRP were spot on. Thanks RRP!

This is probably a dumb question - does swapping for a rutland have any impact on the warranty? If not, I'm heading that way after finishing off my half burnt off factory gasket.

I had the exact amount of material for the job. Was expecting an inch or two left over but it was exactly right. The Permatex Ultra Copper was really easy to work with too.

Why should it? It is simply a gasket between the base and the dome. It's not like it is some metal contraption that could get hot, expand and break the ceramic.

@RRP I didn't think so, but wanted to ask those Eggers much smarter than I.

I didn't do a dome adjustment when replacing the gasket.

Mine has a slight underbite of about 1/4 inch. Not sure I want to even fool with trying to fix that. Wish it were easier to adjust the dome position because it never fails I go through all the loosening and re-tightening and get things perfect only to have it revert back over time to a slight underbite. Maybe that's just how mine will always be.

Nice, I have one waiting to be put on. Did you remove the dome when taking off the top gasket?

@byrne092... my top gasket was very easy to remove with taking the dome off. Just used a putty knife and then cleaned it up a bit with a scotch-brite pad.

From my experience installing my Rutland, not necessary to remove the dome.

I meant to say above that I did NOT have to remove the dome in order to replace my gaskets with the single Rutland gasket on the bottom.

Thanks for posting this.  I received my new Rutland over a month ago, but I've been procastinating installing it out of fear that it wouldn't be easy.

I delayed only because of weather.  I wanted a nice day.  But I was concerned it was going to take a long time or be hard. Follow the directions and you will be fine.  This is the perfect example of the "fear of the unknown".  Do not delay - it is easier then you think it is going to be. At least mine was.  And now I love it!

Oh, and I did not take my dome off either....

I felt the same way as I am not mechanically inclined. It turned out to be fun for me. JUST DO IT!

Excellent. I was hoping that I wouldn't have to take the dome off, dont want the task of taking the biga$$ XL dome on and off unless it really would help the process.

I didn't take my dome off either. IMO it isn't necessary.
