Colonoscopy Cook

While I was prepping, I figured I may as well be productive and prep some meat.
Picked up a 15 lb angus packer and rubbed it down with some Salt Lick Dry Rub.

Loaded up the LBGE with Ozark Oak and some Peacan chunks.
Put it on at 200 about 8pm.
Went to bed at 11, she was up to 140 IT and holding a steady 200 in the egg.

Left for the doctors at 6:30am.  She was at 165 IT.
Took my "nap", went for breakfast and picked up some sides for supper.
When I got home about 1030, she was still in the stall at 170 IT.
Bumped the egg up to 250 to power on through the stall.
Pulled it about 1:30 when it hit 200 IT

FTC until 4:30.
Here is the result.

My original plan was to give half of this cook to a friend whose father is dying of Cancer for their supper tonight.
Just found out he died this afternoon.  They will get all of it except what my son and I ate for supper.  It should feed the 8 or 10 folks who were there today.
Here is what my son and I kept.

This made the Colonoscopy a lot more fun.  SWMBO was out of town and missed it.  Since it's all gone, she will want me to do another brisket soon.
Do I have to?

Nicely done, and way to be creative and inject a good memory into an otherwise not so fun day.

Edit: Very sorry for your loss @DCC .  I didn't catch that in my initial reading of your post.

He lost his dad today and his wife lost her dad a couple weeks ago.  We lost a friend to cancer a couple weeks ago and have a couple other friends dying of cancer.  I have been doing a lot of egging for sick and dying folk lately.  They've all enjoyed some good food and I've enjoyed some good egging.  In the immortal words of Eric Idle et al:
"Always look on the bright side of life; (how do you type whistling)"

johnmitchell, go for it with the silly remarks. That's what I was after when I came up with that silly post title.

Yeah Jason, My previous procedures, I just stewed in my misery.  This time I was going to make the most of it.  Getting wrapped up in the cook and trying to work the timing out kept my mind busy so I didn't have time to think about the PIA to come.  I can't wait for the next one in 5 years.  I'll have to come up with something better to cook. :o

I can't think of a better way of distracting myself from the whole colon cleanse process.  I'm sure they will appreciate the brisket.

The thread title got me excited in an entirely different way :)

Sorry to hear about your friend's dad. You're a good sort for keeping them fed when its probably the last thing on their mind.

It looks great!  Sorry to hear about your friends loss.

Aren't you supposed to starve yourself when you are having a endoscopy?

Which came first the chicken or the egg?  I egged the chicken and then I ate his leg.

Serious note - Awesome that you did that man.  Bet the family really were appreciative.  Sorry to hear about the loss.  Cancer sucks, not if, and, or buts about it.  Great looking cook too!

Not-So-Serious note - The title I found interesting.  Okay, so I click and start reading.

Well, looking through the first couple I am thinking you're doing some home procedure stuff.  Like you know, post on Craigslist that you do colonoscopies for cheap.

So, I am picturing you and your patient, in the garage, on a chipboard table on some saw bucks.  When you said, can you hold on one sec, I got to get my brisket on.  I'll be right back, pinch your cheeks together to hold this tube.

You come back, same gloves on, and like "okay, I'm back.. now were where we".  With a little rub from the meat dangling off the side of your glove.

I can go on and on, but I got to work, so I am cutting it short.

I hear that you get T-shirts with lots of different purchases.  Did you get one?  A T-shirt like this one would really make you stand out at an Eggfest.
