First Fire!

A day of firsts - my first time using a BGE and first fire for my XL.
I cooked shrimp ABT's - banana peppers for my heat averse wife and jalapenos for me. They're stuffed with cream cheese, some shredded cheddar, a finely chopped shallot, a large grated clove of garlic, and shrimp. I liberally dusted them with Dizzy Dust.
I cooked them at 275 for almost an hour with the plate setter and a chunk of apple wood. I had no problems regulating the temperature. Once I had it dialed in, it held 275 rock steady.
Tomorrow it's spatchcock chicken with hasselback sweet potatoes - can't wait.
My Weber kettle just became a relic of the past.

I'm hooked already. These ABT's taste very different from doing the cook on the Weber - in every good sort of way. I'll be scheming ways to step away from the stove and use the Egg. My grilling zone is covered and I can pass the food through a window if its raining.Living the good life smoking and joking -
My wife enjoys the egg more than I do, cause now I do most of the cooking, and she gets to be the taster!!!Central Valley CA One large egg One chocolate lab "Halle" two chiuahuas "Skittles and PeeWee"

Great looking cook. The title of your post had me worried though. I was concerned that you had a "fire".Louisville, GA - 2 Large BGE's

Thanks, johnkitchens. I'm trying to stay out of them until my wife gets home....but I'm losing the battle.
Tomorrow is a more serious cook with a large piece of meat. Can't wait!Living the good life smoking and joking -

Looks good! Btw, the weber kettle is a great place to store your plate setter. I used mine when I needed to set hot things down.
Don't tell your problems to people. 80% of people don't care and 20% are glad you have them.
