So I bought this Heinekin Mini BGE on ebay, and whilst it was in transit for the owner to my international shipping company , I think the UPS guy tripped over a dog and that was that!

In hindsight I wish I had had what was left sent out to OZ cause the base and lid seems to be okay.

Happened last September and Mini Max's had unicorn status at that stage.

Unfortunately, wasn't insured for the domestic US leg......one of those lessons you pay for with cash!

Yikes. It's not a good day for egg owners going humpty. The only people smiling on these threads are the manufactures of high temp furnace cement.

Aussie, I'm sure you are nowhere near the states. Would that be a safe guess? I could use a new mini base. I got a free one recently that is similar to yours....

Good guess, the "Where is everyone" thread is quite good, but has me sitting in a farmers field, 16 kilometers from home, close enough though.

The photos were sent to me from my shipping agent in Florida and I'm sure they have been disposed of , other wise it would have been yours.

The first three sellers of mini eggs on ebay refused to consider shipping to Australia and this seller was great.... probably thought I was crazy but.

I didn't think to get it insured, it wasn't an option in the checkout process, so I wore it. Had considered reversing the payment though paypal, but didn't want to penalize someone trying to help me out.

UPS would not have honored insurance. We ship 10 to 15 packages a day with them and insured each shipment up til a couple of months ago. NEVER did they ever honor a claim. Biggest copout was saying "improper packaging" even when we double box and use a foam machine. Biggest ripoff of all ltimes.

Cost me $465.00 for the egg and domestic shipping to my US 'mail box' and from memory would have cost almost $300 to ship to Aus, so at the time decided not to throw good money after bad.
The people who run'my us mailbox service' deposed of the items.

Man, that really blows. I would have saved what was salvageable (especially the metal parts ) and tried to cobble something together out of flower pots or such.

What a bummer.
