Yes warranty will fix it as they've already replaced my fire ring. Just loading it up anyways and cooking away. I never let my egg go past 800 either. Highest i get is usually 650 to hold for pizza or sear. I've hit 750 a couple times but not for long. So since November this will be 2nd warranty claim. I checked the egg itself and all seems fine. So that is good.

    I often wonder about the usefulness of the slit in the firebox.  Granted it allows expansion when heated, IMHO it compromises the structural integrity when lifted/carried, especially in the case of XL.

    Just got a new firebox for my Large which was purchased before the gap in the firebox was in the design. Guess I should clean my medium out and look at it as well. 
    I raise my kids, cook and golf.  When work gets in the way I'm pissed, I'm pissed off 48 weeks a year.
    Inbetween Iowa and Colorado, not close to anything remotely entertaining outside of football season.
