Taking suggestions....broken Mini on CL
apinion
Posts: 470
I browse C: frequently throughout the night at work. I caught a post 2 hours in for a brand new mini, but broken. "Shattered" at the guy stated in the ad.
So, I went and picked it up with hopes for the best. It was in 2 BGE boxes. One with the egg and the other with the assembly hardware.
Please see the pics below. Any suggestions on what road to take? JB weld and paint? Just use the hardware? Throw it off a bridge?
It was free....so worse case scenario I have a new thermometer and a new grate to go along with things.

Maybe just buy a new base. JB welf the fire bowl, fire ring and dome. I think the dome might hold together well.Louisianian by birth, Louisianian by death. Austinite for now...

Free is a good price
I'd check the replacement cost on the hemispheres and put humpty together again. The firebox and ring will function fine broken. Plan B, sell the hardware. Maybe someone here has a less broken (cracked) top and bottom. ______________________________________________I love lamp.. -
Thanks @nolaegghead. I'll get some use out of this pickup somehow.Louisianian by birth, Louisianian by death. Austinite for now...

10 more posts and I hit 13k. I'm kinda OCD sometimes.
What are you doing in Austin anyway?______________________________________________I love lamp.. -
I can get you to 10. I'm up all night at work. Moved here right out of nursing school. Older bro lived here and when I was younger I aspired to be like him. Told myself once I had a career I would do it and now, here I am! I do miss living closer to water though.Louisianian by birth, Louisianian by death. Austinite for now...

Yeah, and there's less and less water in Austin. I love Austin, but the traffic blows. There was a housing bust when I graduated and all these Austin homes were selling for nothing. I regret not jumping on that. Hindsight is...______________________________________________I love lamp..

Prices are still climbing. I wish I lived in a bit of a better part of the city, but it's still an Austin address and people are emptying their pockets around here to get it. Houses are selling within days of listing.
Have been looking into this thread...

I'm down for the band and stand if you ever decide to sell. Otherwise it's worth a shot with some high heat fireplace cement of sorts. Perfect price for you!"The pig is an amazing animal. You feed a pig an apple and it makes bacon. Let's see Michael Phelps do that" - Jim Gaffigan

I'm for sure going to at least JB weld it and give it a shot for some sausages. Not planning on busting out the wok on it just. If thinks go bottom up, you got it Weber.Louisianian by birth, Louisianian by death. Austinite for now...

The idea of fiberglass really creeps me out. This guy did some nice work, though. I'll have to look into that thermic 1000.Louisianian by birth, Louisianian by death. Austinite for now...
