Each one is an individual and should be treated as such...

This has never happened to me, but I have heard many folks say that each piece of meat will have a mind of its own. I have had one finish a little earlier but only by about 1 hour max.
Which one finished first? If I had to guess I would say the one on the left. it looks a little smaller, and it is also hanging over the plate setter more because the one on the right has the leg blocking it.
Which came first the chicken or the egg? I egged the chicken and then I ate his leg. -
I am wondering if placement on the grid made the difference. More heat going to one than the other? I don't know. Just a thought.

Fat content. One had more fat than the other. The stall on the fatty one was likely longer.

My first thought, if they both weigh the exact same, but are a different shape, the one with the more surface area will cook faster. A perfect sphere will have the least surface area to volume ratio. As meat is rarely spherical, a perfect cube will have less surface area than a rectangular shaped slab. Rarely do you have a perfect cube, but by now I hope you see my point. The one that is closer to being like a cube vs. the one that is longer and thinner, the more cubicle shaped one should take longer to cook if everything else is equal.

Small variations become larger differences over longer periods of time. I support the plate setter theory as a 4/5 degree difference is easy to explain given the airflow. I will remember this next time I double down on butts.

Did the one on the left take longer? It seems thicker and the one on the right has more surface area and is thinner
-
The one on left got done 3 hours before one on right.

One was raised in a happy, loving and nurturing environment. The other was neglected and abused and made fun of. Or maybe it was just fat content and/or shape.

Odds of those butts starting out as identical twins is quite slim...thus the difference as noted above.Louisville; Rolling smoke in the neighbourhood. Life is too short for light/lite beer! Seems I'm livin in a transitional period. CHEETO (aka Agent Orange) makes Nixon look like a saint.
