Your most unpredictable food/cooking item purchase to date

Well, I thought this could maybe be a start to a great thread. Or at least maybe you can all help me come to the realization that when you see a great deal sometimes you just have to jump at it. I had no intentions of ever making this purchase but it just happened! It found me ... not the other way around.

Anyway, I'm at work the other day and a buddy calls me. He says, hey I'm standing here looking at a huge commercial meat slicer and it's sitting on a nice heavy duty stainless steel table that has caster wheels on it. He explains its a little dirty from sitting for several years and has old meat shavings in it but just needs a good cleaning. I asked him if he ran it and he says "yep, I plugged it in and everything functions like it should". So how much I ask? He proceeds to tell me the price and explains that the table was included with it. I couldn't believe the asking price! He told me I had to give him a definite yes or no answer right there because there were others in line to buy it. So, I am now the proud owner of a commercial meat slicer! WTF?

I could probably triple my money on it though, so that eased the pain some. BaHaHaHa!

.... if nothing else, I picked up an awesome new table for my MiniMax

I make lots of venison sausage and jerky every year so I will get some use out of it in that respect. Hopefully I'll find other uses for it that will maybe justify keeping it around.

Sweet score Ricky Bobby! Is that a Globe 12" slicer or Chefs Choice?

My most unexpected was my LBGE SS table. It just sorta fell into my lap and then the mods brought it all home.

Could I use a steam pressure sprayer or is that a bit too much for the electrical components?

I take mine apart, you'll see how easy it is. Wash all the loose stuff in hot water and soap. Wipe everything else with some orange clean, then spray with a mild bleach solution (being real careful around the blade). Then spray with distilled water or de-ionised water.

To answer the OP I would have to say it's my griddle. The introduction of the egg it has really opened me up to cooking. Outside cooking to be specific. 2 yrs ago I grilled burgers on the gasser every once in a while. That's it!! So of course I needed a 36" steel sauté pan. Lol.

Um, slicing sandwich thin BGE cooked pastrami, BGE cooked Ham, BGE cooked roast beef, BGE cooked turkey breast, etc.

Want to make nice scalloped potatoes ham casserole (or crockpot version), slice the ham, potatoes and onions on it.

Anytime you have something you want a nice consistent thin slice and you have enough to do to warrant cleaning the slicer afterwards, it is a godsend to have an nice slicer to use.

If you have a good mandolin, then maybe it gets used a little less.  As long as you have storage space to store it, you can get lots of good use out of it over the years.

Your most unpredictable food/cooking item purchase to date

    To answer this question.

Well the wife, on a whim, bought my Large BGE & Sole' Gourmet table as a Anniversary present to me.  This was completely unexpected on my part.  So after receiving this gift, I watched the video that came with the BGE, and immediately decided I had to purchase a platesetter, cast iron grid, pizza stone, pizza peel, and a cover from Sole' gourmet.

So that has been my most unpredictable food/cooking item purchase to date.

My meat slicer purchase pre-dated my egg ownership by decades, and was not un-predictable.  I knew what I wanted and bought it.  The same is true with my Oster Food Processing Center I bought when I was a poor college student.
