Mini Max turbo butt

Per NPHusker's request here is my 7lb turbo butt going on the MM. Finally a little sun in Chicago and it's not in teens.

Nice!  Tight squeeze at first?  Pulling or Chopping?

  • MM decided to settle around 331. I have Fogo lump in there and had to whack down the huge lump pieces. The Plate setter is sitting almost on top of the lump.

This is 7lb bone in shoulder. Mustard application with Dizzy Dust in fridge for about 20 hours. Applied a little Swamp Venom before putting it on this morning. Will pull for tacos tonight.

Yeah it's a tight fit. I need to get the Woo from CGS. When I tried to order a month or two ago they were out of the circular stone and I just didn't get a chance to order it. This is the first Egg use in about 1.5 months because it's been too damn cold in Chicago.

I will pull it tonight. My 5 year old wanted Pork Butt and finally its nice (in the 30s) out.

I had already purchase the MM w/ PS so I opted for just the WOO. The PS fits like a glove. And the WOO is reasonably priced. Mine never leaves the MM.

  • Good to know. My problem is that I keep adding stuff to my cart as I want to add the Spider and a CI for my Large... all of a sudden my cart is a few hundred dollars. Figures that a little under a year into the BGE cult I have 2 Eggs with all these 'required' accessories ;) Luckily my wife knows me all to well and doesn't even question me after all these years of hobbies :)

Do you by chance know which ash tool fits the MM bottom air vent? I keep having to pull out the fire box/ring to just brush it out and it's kind of annoying.

It's such a lil guy I just stir the lump and add. About every 5th or so cook I pull everything out and shop vac it all out (takes only a couple of minutes).

I used my MM now for about a month. Cleaned out tonight for the first time. Took out the lump and used the shop vac on it as well.  WW lump doesn't create much ash. Hoping the RW is as good or better.

  • This was about 30 minutes before pulled at about 198. Rode it until 205ish as the bone didn't want to wiggle until around there.

  • Cook lasted about 6 hours and burned up about 75% of the Fogo lump. I had a lot of large pieces of Fogo in there because I was too lazy to crush them down, which resulted in very loose/airy amount of lump and I could have ran out of fuel. I'm not a big fan of the Fogo in the MM. It takes too long to heat up and the pieces are all the size of a baseball or larger.

My fire craft order of new lump is coming in Tuesday and I'm hoepful the RW and OO are as good as all you say ;)

WGWW >FOGO Tried fogo once it was ok I know some here love it $ wise. I the same firecraft order coming tuesday also, with a small draft door adapter for my digi q. Thinking about smoking salmon and the digi will keep the MM low and slow (sub 200).
