First post. Dizzy chicken, taders, brussels. Oh and BACON too!
Hello All. First time poster, recent stalker(of the site). I have been trying to join for a month but it would never let me, even though I confirmed my email. Then I finally got a email saying I was accepted. This place is awesome to say the least. I spend many hours just reading(and laughing) old posts and searching for new info. Wife says all I do now is think and read about food. Food bill is out the roof. I could not imagine the learning curve of the Egg without the knowledge within this site. I have learned more about grilling in the past few months from you guys than I have in my whole life. Thank you! I still have a very long way to go though. My lovely wife bought me a LBGE for Christmas this year (first year being married) and it has changed the way I look at grilling. I have never been very good on the grill but now that I have the egg and you guys knowledge I should be on the right track. So here is last nights cook. Hopefully the pictures come out normal size.
Egg up to temp. 350 dome/305 grid

Food is on.

Raised the Brussel and the tader apps up to get the bacon crispy (and closer to my mouth) about half way through the cook.

Tasty looking tader

Brussels were eggcellent

I raised the chicken in the dome for the last 30 minutes to get the skin nice and crispy. It cooked indirect for a total of 2.5 hours at 350 dome and 315-320 rack temp. I believe it was probably done around the 2 hour mark but it turned out very good. Thanks to Dizzy Pig, and the egg of course. Looks a little burnt in the picture for some reason. Sorry I didn't get a money shot of the inside.

In case you were wondering what was inside the foil bags. Here is the meal plated.

The only thing wrapped in bacon that made it to the plate before it was eaten was 1 lonely potato. Very good eats!
Thanks again and I look forward to contributing more in the future. I have the disease and its rapidly spreading!

Thank you Hawg.
THEBuckeye No I did not blanch them. Just cut tough end off the stem and put a X in the stem to release the bitterness and wrapped in bacon. Should I have blanched them prior to wrapping? I was concerned about them over cooking before the bacon got crispy.

I was just wondering if you blanched them, not judging. I would like to do these some time. Were you pleased with the results? if so, I wont bother blanching them when i do them.Eggdicted_Dawgfan said:Thank you Hawg.

Thanks -
I thought they were great Buckeye. I added dizzy dust to the potatoes before I wrapped them. The Brussels were just washed and wrapped. They could have used a touch of salt prior to wrapping. Its too simple not to try if you like bacon.Snellville, GA

Thank you. I was in the same boat just a few years ago. Couldn't stand them. I hated the bitterness of them. My aunt told me to try putting the X on the stem and I don't know if it is a mind trick or what but they now have a very clean taste. Try them sometime and let me know what you think.Snellville, GA -
Very excellent meal. I too never ate brussel sprouts until I had them on the egg. Now I love them. Bacon wrapped pic looks outstandingLBGE& SBGE———————————————•———————– Pennsylvania / poconos

Nice cook and welcome aboard.
I was in the same camp as those that hated Brussel sprouts. The wife cooked bacon and then removed the bacon leaving the grease. Then sautéed garlic and onion for a little bit before adding and cooking the sprouts. Just before everything is done crush up the bacon, mix, and serve. I can eat the whole pan myself. Going to do this some day in the Egg to see how it goes.
