  • @Ballardbbq (inadvertently) raises some good points. Some things I really like about this forum are the fact there are no ads, nor overt bias, and it seems to be self-moderating. If it were run by some advertising types, or with the goal of generating ROI, all of those things would likely suffer.

    @RRP,

I know about the site before I got my egg and that's how I decided on what size to get.  By the way, where did you get the decal?  I would love to put one on my truck to advertise more.  I've never seen that at my egg store.

@Ballardbbq - I don't believe this forum has ever tolerated racist comments/threads/posts/members. I could be wrong, so feel free to please post links to specific examples. Re: POTUS, people here and elsewhere are free to express their thoughts and opinions, and  again I don't recall any racist a-hole comments being accepted here.

Re: the sexism, unfortunately it does seem to pervade the bbq world since most participants seem to do well. If you know of a bbq forum that is not sexist or offensive to women, we should try and emulate them and their practices.

Those were offered one time on Greeneggers.com by an egger who had a buddy in the decal business. It was a single run. I bought one for both rear side windows so if I was doing the passing or being passed an egger would catch it. Sorry.

I believe I originally stumbled upon the forum while just looking at egging ideas. The forum almost always pops-up.

If anyone does any kind of online research before buying, they should find this site. It is linked to from http://www.biggreenegg.com on the top navigation bar.

That's just how I found it.

  • Hey Caliking - The point I was trying to make is a national brand does not want to associate itself with sexism, racism or political bias. I was not questioning your right to express your political beliefs but saying someone making and marketing a product does not want your beliefs represented as theirs.

You're right BGE does not tolerate racist threads but they do not monitor the threads on a regular basis. Racist threads have existed, sometimes for days. What I have found is it usually takes a phone call to customer service to get a thread pulled and once they are aware of it, zap, it's gone.

There was a thread about the President that went racist very quickly and was zapped just as quickly, so no links. Nor would I ever post links to offensive threads so everyone can get stirred up again.

@Ballardbbq‌ I certainly understand your point. There are some cringeworthy moments round here. If it were my company I'd probably feel the same as you, but they do link it on the mothership site.

On the flip side, you'd be hard pressed to find a group of strangers so willing to help. I don't do a lot of forums, but people routinely post cell phone numbers here in public to offer help. That's not necessarily the most security conscience thing, but eager to help for sure.

I stumbled to this site from a truck stop bathroom stall.  Said for a good time go to www.eggheadforum.com (and some phone number, ended up getting some guy in Tennesee named Apple... I dunno) and follow a bunch of guys that will remain anonymous.  I bit....

Holy Cow! We're a bunch of president hatin', racist, sexist, ego maniacal, recipe sharin' Aholes. Does that really describe this forum? Wow! I've never thought of this place like that. Nor has my wife who is also a member but, is far less active than I. Lighten up Francis! @Ballardbbq‌ Someday somebody here might actually help you. This is a fun place, light hearted, sympathetic, empathetic and sharing place with food Pr0N.

I bring up this site to anyone that grills whether they have an Egg or not.   I've never met a group of people that is more willing to help each other out than just about everyone here.  Sure there are moments when someone hits enter and the wheels fall off but that is life in general.  Someone mentioned self-moderating.  That is a pretty good description.  Usually when a post goes off the tracks someone will get it right back on and the offending party is ignored in a lot of cases.  Other times people grab the popcorn and sit back to watch the carnage.  That rarely happens though.

  • @Ballardbbq you seem overly upset that not every one here is a fan of the president. You also seem to think that if someone doesn't fawn all over themselves in admiration over him that they are a racist.

    I find that offensive.
Hey John - I don't care what you or anyone else thinks about the President. The OP is "why don't newbies know about this site' and then the OP goes on to ask why it's not promoted by BGE or it's retail partners. I'm answering that question. It was BGE that removed the posts about the President so obviously they found them offensive.

I  recently purchased a KJ classic to go with my medium egg.  When corresponding with folks about the KJ, I often refer them to this site for the best information on Kamado cooking.
