Had a couple ok hunts in Arkansas this wknd.
Let the birds age in the feathers for a few days, cleaned, breasted, brined.
Wrapped some in bacon and cooked indirect at 400 till medium.
Left the fat layer on some and seared at 600.
Eat what you kill.

Another nice day folding ducks!!! Very cool cottonseed, i'm also a big advocate of eating what you harvest, cook looks great!
It's late season over here in California so theyre starting to thin out a bit, might try my hand at some upland game and maybe get in a late goose hunt. Post up some pheasant recipes!

I was going to ask where you hunt. I hunt out of Deleplaine. It's between Pocahontas and Paragould.cottonseed said:

I know you didn't shoot that hollywood in the timber!I like the idea of plucking and then breasting. Do you paraffin the fuzz of or hit 'em quick with a torch or just assume the flames from the grill will singe off the fuzz?

Them birds were all outta the rice fields.I just pluck the best I can then the sear cleans up any remains.
Theres a thin filmy layer (on some birds) that sits on top of the fat that holds the feather roots.once you peel that off the feather roots come out pretty easy.Roots for lack of a better word.Atlanta, GALarge Egg ~1998 model
