Delivery of Ozark Oak

So, I was excited to be receiving my order of lump! In anticipation I opened the front door to wait for the FedEx driver since it has been raining. To my dismay I found the FedEx guy dragging my box of fragile lump up the stairs and rolling the box to get it up the stairs.
He finally gets it to the last step and picks it up a bit and slams it on the top of my porch. The entire time I can hear the pieces of lump grinding. :-q

It sounds like you may need to have a talk with the Fed Ex supervisor. I would want to grind his lump.

I think I may open a couple of the bags and have a look see. I saved the box. Granted it weighed almost 100 lbs

That's WHY he has a hand truck on his vehicle!!!

Lol @ Jeremiah. That is funny .

In the delivery drivers defense, a 100 lb. box of charcoal can't be the easiest thing to deliver solo, up stairs at that, hand truck or no.The shipper should also pack in manageable sizes. Whenever I have ordered 100 lbs of lump from Firecraft, it always comes in two boxes.Large BGE, Mini BGEMorgantown, PA

Why defend the delivery driver its his JOB.

I guess you never had to deal with the consequences of some else's poor decisions at work.bwarner said:Why defend the delivery driver its his JOB.Large BGE, Mini BGEMorgantown, PA -
Being a driver myself it should NOT happen. Period. If he ddon't like his job then don't do it.
I USED to have to pull 2500 lbs pallets to the back of my truck. Hated doing it (yeah I'm lazy) so I found a different contract and now just sit in my truck while getting unloaded.1 XXL BGE, 1 LG BGE, 2 MED. BGE, 1 MINI BGE, 1 Peoria custom cooker Meat Monster.Clinton, Iowa -
I just got my 120lbs of OO from Fire Craft..Granted I have a straight flat run to my front door..It arrived in 2 boxes and all was in great shape..But I will admit I never know what to expect when it arrives. Our Fed Ex and UPS route drivers are great..But they have no control in-between..Sorry to hear about yours, hopefully you will be surprised when you open it up..Greensboro North Carolina

@sistm - Did you open the bags to check yet? The lump may not be harmed......XL BGEJoe JRBaltimore, MD

From the Ozark I bought - 6 x 10lb bags, they came two in a box, tightly packed so they couldn't move around.
There's some dust at the bottom, but that's every bag of lump I ever had.
You'll be happy with the Ozark Oak, it burns great - got a chicken on right now, had to unfreeze the daisy wheel. It's been a little cool here.

BBQ is a celebration of culture in America. It is the closest thing we have to the wines and cheeses of Europe.
Drive a few hundred miles in any direction, and the experience changes dramatically.

They were all in one box packed 2x2 in opposite directions. The two bottom bags for the worst of it with more dust and broken pieces than the next set of two. I did not open more than that. It isn't too bad so I'm glad about that!
As long as my wife isn't in labor I will give it a try with some steaks this weekend! -

Where I live is considered rural so Fed Ex here is an independent contractor. This ol' boy is a 350 pound slob who won't bother to get out of his truck if he can avoid it. I've seen him roll down his window and throw my packages on the ground by my garage door. I'd never order any lump that he would be delivering as I'd know what to expect. OTOH UPS is here at least once a week and those guys often run with my packages! There is a world of difference!Re-gasketing the USA one yard at a time

My last order from Firecraft included some items in glass. The box was less beat up than an earlier order w/out the "Fragile- Glass" stickers on it. I am not defending errant delivery drivers, just stating what happened to me.
