Hello fellow eggheads! Just joining the group. Have known about Big Green Eggs for a few years, but I never thought I could own one. My wife surprised me this Christmas with a Large Egg. Like some others, I had considered returning it , thinking it was too eggstravagant a gift, lol. She didn't purchase the nest, and thought it was included. Since we live in Michigan, I want to store it in the garage and move it out for cooks. (At least for the winter) On Christmas Day , with no stores open, I Macgyvered a stand out of scrap wood, which I then converted to a cart with castors. My wife says it is ugly, although it works pretty well.
Does anyone else have a home made cart to share with us please? I plan to make a table some day.....
Thanks !

I like the cart. Just make sure you pull the egg around and not push it around in case of failure.LBGE& SBGE———————————————•———————– Pennsylvania / poconos

Welcome!!! And the wife's right, that's ugly. Build a small table and put it on casters.

We're in Commerce twp. Near White Lake. Cold enough for you? By the way, what is the coldest temp that you can cook on an egg ? Is there a limit?

@chowman I live in SC so my temps aren't as low as yours but I've seen pics of guys in CAN cooking on them way below zero.1 large BGE, Spartanburg SC

Welcome. You can use your egg at any temperature Mich. throws at you. Just don't go below 0 degrees Kelvin (-473 degrees Fahrenheit).LBGE (still waitin' for my free T-Shirt), DIgiQ DX2 (In Blue, cause it's the fastest), Heavy Duty Kick Ash Basket, Mc Farland, WI.
If it wasn't for my BGE I'd have no use for my backyard... -
If you are going to be moving it in and out of the garage, I would suggest a nest with a handler. The handler will cost you some extra cabbage, but it really makes a huge difference in stabilizing the egg with the nest. The egg mates (shelves) are really nice for work space and fold down for storing in a small space in the garage. Of course, if you are handy, you can build your own table. The plans are readily available on the website. The table will take more space in the garage, of course. Welcome and enjoy.

Welcome. Can't tell much from photo, but make sure you have some air all the way around the egg lest your cubist cart catch fire.

Who cares about the appearance when the output works??? That said, when moving, I would suggest you pull by the hinge so as to reduce the chance of a top-heavy tip/spill and even if you get a nest-use the same technique. Don't know about the handler. I move my BGE's once a year around 4-5 ft for patio pressure washing.BTW-welcome aboard and enjoy the journey.Louisville; Rolling smoke in the neighbourhood. # 38 for the win. Life is too short for light/lite beer! Seems I'm livin in a transitional period.

Thanks for the welcome everyone! And Happy New Year , cheers to you all , here's to a great year cooking on our BGE's !

I'd be careful with that stand the four arms that stick up dont look strong enough to support the egg weight if they get leaned against.
Check Craigslist for a nest or put a wanted add on Craigslist. Im sure you'll get one.
Last but not least...congratulations on your LBGE. -
The stand/kart does look cool but I do wonder about functionality after a couple uses. Would hate to see pics of your egg busted up on the garage floor because it failed. But welcome to the madhouse if your pictures of your food are as good as the one you took of your kart and egg you will fit right in.
Happy new year and congrats on the new toy.
I raise my kids, cook and golf. When work gets in the way I'm pissed, I'm pissed off 48 weeks a year.Inbetween Iowa and Colorado, not close to anything remotely entertaining outside of football season.
