@dstearn Thanks, will check with her school. As far as computer, I am on a surface pro3 but my daughter does everything one her ipad. Is Photoshop something that is needed?

@EggSpinner, many options there. Photoshop, Lightroom, Photoshop Elements, Corel, etc.. I use the Adobe CC (Creative Cloud) that includes Photoshop and Lightroom, though I used Lightroom mostly. It is $10 a month and you get all the updates. No need to buy the new version when introduced.

You bet a lot of bang for the buck with the canon t5i.Canon refurbished cameras are never used ones. Used returned are destroyed. They are just overstock and returned one start have never been opened.

I'm a canon guy - i have a t2i and it works great for me. If I were you I wouldn't go with a brand spanking new model because they come out with them all the time, buy the old technology and she'll still love it but you won't have to break the bank. Many times you can find them for even lower than the $500, but here's the t3i for $549 on Amazon.
