Re-heating frozen pulled pork
Eggsessed
Posts: 11
I've got some pulled pork that I stuck in the freezer about a week ago. I'd like to know what the best way to re-heat it would be. I thought I remebered a posting a while back about using soda in the process, but I don't know the particulars. Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks.
Thanks.

Eggsessed,
Once you have thawed the pulled pork say sitting in your refrig for a day or two fluff it up a bit put up to 5 pounds of it in a crock pot and then pour one can of Coca-Cola over it. It has to be regular Coke, not diet nor flavored and no, Pepsi will not work! Heat and stir from time to time. It's best to keep that a scret from your guests as it sounds sort of strange and they get preconceived ideas it will taste funny, but it doesn't. Trust me it works and it works WELL! Serve your sauce or sauces on the side.

RRP,[p]Dr. Pepper also works just as well as Coke, but again must be regular, no diet

Master Mason,
Thanks for the tips. I'll try that. I have used Coke to cook a ham before, and the results were outstanding.
Thanks again,
Kent

I will be trying this in serveral weeks. Do you turn the crock pot to low or hi and for how long?

Toy Man,
it all depends on the advance time you have but I'd plan on at least the first hour on high and even more. You'll need at least two hours. Personally pulled pork nuked in a micro is very blah tasting to me and that's why taking the time with the Coke and crock pot works. If possible stir it after that hour to get a feel for warmth of the meat. Every crock pot is different. With the Coke in there it shouldn't get dried out. BTW when the pot gets near empty the traces of the telltale Coke will be gone - you'll just see water! BTW this "secret" method also works for shredded beef too!
