I initially used an electric starter. Worked fine for about 6-8 months. Bought a second one it lasted about as long. The little fire starters also worked very well.
For the past 2 years I've been using a chimney starter. That also works great and fast. Plus its a good way to get rid of old phone books; one phone book will provide enough paper for 150-200 cooks.

Ive used the same electric starter since Ive had my egg. My egg is on my porch by an outlet so no extension cords.

Salado TX & 30A FL: Egg Family: 3 Large and a very well used Mini, added a Mini Max when they came out (I'm good for now). Just given a Mini to add to the herd. -
