Sometimes I wonder why I volunteer to host Turkey day.
Oh, don't get me wrong, I enjoy cooking and pulling out the china and silverware, but that last hour before serving, gets so hectic, and by the time the meal is served, my appetite is gone, even though the only thing I've had to eat since getting up is the gizzard and couple of chips with some 10 layer dip. Then, when I'm feeling totally exhausted it's time to dish up as much as possible for family to take home with them, put the rest away in the fridge, and start doing multiple loads of hand washing dishes that can't be run in the dishwasher.
So, now that I finally can pour myself a good cocktail, sit back and relax, I can finally give thanks the day is almost over.
And the forecast is for a 4 day storm starting tomorrow night, so that means Friday AM, gotta get out and set-up the outdoor Xmas lights. Then the rest of the weekend can be spent decorating the inside for Xmas.

It's a lot of work; hosting, getting the house ready, doing the shopping, food prep, clean up etc...
I wouldn't want to do it every week to this extent; but I will never give up doing thanksgiving as long as I'm able

@Zmokin I hear you. Setting up the extra tables, bringing up the extra chairs, and everything you said I agree with. Now that the wife are the only two in the house, whenTt-day comes and population spikes to 18, I just about go out of my mind. But then, once the platters are being passed around, and I look to my right and see both my parents, and to my left and see both my wife's parents and further down the table see the rest of the family, it is all worth it.

I agree with everyone. It's a lot of work but a lot of fun. It's good to see the family together all at once. Doesn't happen enough.XL BGE, LG BGE, and a hunger to grill everything in sight!!!Joe- Strongsville, OH

I didn't host this year, and I had a great time watching my little ones running around. Even my little giant, my 7 month old in 18 mon gear, was letting people hold her and having a good time. Funny to have people give me my daughter back because their arms hurt lol!

I know what you mean...sometimes it feels too much like work! I try to relax though and the family all pitches in. I am hosting on Saturday but I only have to worry about turkey + gravy. We eat on fine china.
Which came first the chicken or the egg? I egged the chicken and then I ate his leg.
