Cast iron grates for mini max
SmokininCT
Posts: 51
I started up the mini max today to make some sliders for lunch. One critique I have of the mini max is the size of the stock grate and how it slides around on top of the fire ring. I have a set of craycort cast iron grates for my small that I tried out on the mini max today. The grates came with a ring that also allows them to be used on a weber smokey joe. I added the ring to the min max and everything fit perfectly. I thought I'd share in case anyone else is looking for a replacement grate for the mini max. Here are a couple of pics of the grates and the sliders on the mini max.

Match made in heaven! CI is king when cooking beef....When I'm not Eggin', I'm scootin' Eggin' and 'cueing from Temecula Ca; an hour from San Diego, an hour and five minutes from Palm Springs, and an hour and a half from Los Angeles (yeah, right. With THAT traffic?)

Thanks Brother, gonna bookmark this so I can do this once i get my MM.I've slow smoked and eaten so much pork, I'm legally recognized as being part swine - Chatsworth Ca.

I was just at the store looking at a MM... I don't understand the sloppiness in the grate at all.

Slumming it in Aiken, SC.

@Jeremiah, yes that is the one. I believe that you can also get them from the ceramic grill store or Amazon. It is also nice the the grates are split in case you want to add some wood chips or charcoal during the cook.

Thanks. I gave the link to my wife. Christmas! (Which will probably come before the (minimax) :-wSlumming it in Aiken, SC.

we have the craycort ci grid in a one piece. 13.75" OD. The one piece is easier to get in and out. Most folks use a adj. rig crossbar to lift it out.the ci grid looks tight. how much slop is there with it sitting on the fire ring.twww.ceramicgrillstore.com ACGP, Inc.

My BGE small cast iron grate fits great in mine, the added weight helps keep it from sliding around like the stock grate.
-
@tjv, the grid does sit tight. There, really isn't any slop at all.
