Speaking of Duke's mayo...ever try the cake recipe?

A favorite bake on my egg is a triple chocolate cake in a bundt pan. Today I was reading the history of Duke's mayo and ran across this cake recipe using Duke's. I just wondered if anybody here has tried it. Here's a link...

When I was a kid, my Mother had a recipe for Chocolate Mayonnaise Cake. It was awesome.I don't have the recipe, but she allowed me to make it occasionally, with her supervision. It was super moist. That was 45 years ago. I wish I had the recipe now.XL BGE, 22" Weber Red Head, Fiesta Gasser .... Peoria,AZ

I never have but it sounds good. I am a Duke mayonnaise advocate. Great mayo!!

So far the response hasn't been deafening LOL! I may just go ahead and try this recipe but since I don't have the two 8" cake pans needed plus I don't need the added calories from the frosting I won't do that either. Just the same going bare nekked as I call my favorite chocolate cake which also has no frosting I think I can do a better taste evaluation.Re-gasketing the USA one yard at a time

Don't know about others, but in some thread a while back on this forum someone mentioned it and similar great comments were made.Re-gasketing the USA one yard at a time -
Ron this is great! I'm always looking for unusual recipes and a chocolate-mayo cake fits the bill. Bookmarked and thank you!Flint, Michigan

I think Duke's mayo is the best commercial mayo available. It's different than Hellman's but I find it hard to explain why. I've made homemade mayo before, and like this recipe; http://www.sisboomblog.com/2012/12/mayonnaise-recipe/. I added 2 tsp cider vinegar and 1 tsp sugar to give it a Duke's Mayo taste. I would think this is a good recipe. Since mayo is essentially oil and eggs, I can see the mayo making it moist.

I was raised on Bama mayonnaise. The stuff is great. Would never eat any other kind. My wife and I got in a huge fight shortly after we were married because she brought some other brand home. It has always been Bama mayo or no mayo. That being said, about 6 months ago I tried Dukes and the stuff is great. I now buy both.

I think I recently read that Duke's has less sugar in it than most mayo. Something to do with it being developed during the Depression or a war time and sugar was scarce and expensive. Anybody hear anything like that? Whatver, still my favorite brand.

According to the Washington Post article:Griffin said:I think I recently read that Duke's has less sugar in it than most mayo. Something to do with it being developed during the Depression or a war time and sugar was scarce and expensive. Anybody hear anything like that? .Thankfully, Eugenia didn’t stop with sandwiches. Inspired by letters from soldiers requesting the recipe for her sandwich spreads, she began bottling mayonnaise as a separate product around 1923. She used oil, egg yolks and cider vinegar, which gave the mayonnaise a particular tang, and she left out sugar, rationed during wartime.Re-gasketing the USA one yard at a time
