I want to do a turkey on my BGE for Thanksgiving. This would be my first. Any advice?

Mad Max or spatchcock.

I remember the first turkey I ever cooked. I was 15, never had cooked a turkey before, and my sunday school teacher asked me to cook Thanksgiving dinner for him and his guests.

Good hint is to keep the roasting pan or aluminum pan off the plate setter. Especially if you plan on saving the drippings for gravy. Keep it elevated so the drippings in the pan don't burn resting on the plate setter. You can use egg feet or some simple nuts from the toolbox to elevate the pan.
You can also take the temperature probe clip from the inside of the egg and place it on the outside. Slide the stem through the clip and than slide the thermometer back in the eggs hole on the outside. The thermometer will give you an accurate reading and will keep the stem from sticking into your bird when closing the lid

Get the pics up once you do. I've seen some great looking turkey cooks on here....I'm sure it'll come great.
