RV'ing with an egg?

Looking for ideas to safely travel with my LBGE. It will be riding in the back of a toy hauler (5th wheel). I can secure it with straps, but I'm not clear about how to reduce the "shock" from travel. Thought about taking it out of the nest, removing the "guts" and then placing a buffer between the lid and base.
Any thoughts would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Jay

@jjharris144 Cardboard in between each piece, including between the grate and firebox, firebox and fire ring, dome and base. Strap down nice and tight and you should be good. I'd take it out of the nest so that it has less likelihood of sliding around at all.

I don't know if you need a buffer between the lid and the base, I would expect the gasket to suffice.
However, I would bungy the lid down so it can't open & close.
BGE sells a trailer hitch transportation device, you might ask them what they recommend about the internal parts, looks like they leave it in a nest with a handler (the handler secures the egg in the nest as it bolts to both nest and the lower ring of the egg.

I saw this rig at the Athens Eggfest a while back.

With the large in back of the PU to Fla just slip in cardboard between the inside peaces and at the lid. Travels just fine. Would 110% recommend a "Handler". Strap it down and run a cable down the top vent and out the bottom vent to be sure it's still in the trailer or PU bed in the mornings on the road. I leave in the nest.Salado TX & 30A FL: Egg Family: 3 Large and a very well used Mini, added a Mini Max when they came out (I'm good for now). Just given a Mini to add to the herd.

Since your're transporting in the back of a TH...I'd suspend it from the ceiling with some sort of HD bungee straps........BTW...which TH do you have???

Really appreciate the recommendations! It would be nice to have some type of cushioned nest for everything to ride in.@55drum, I have a Cyclone 4100.

Find some pieces of dense closed cell foam. Place underneath each caster if you want to take the hard shock out of road bumps. But basically, I think the EGG is pretty strong. it is brittle which is why it cracks instead of bending, but if you secure it against those kind of impacts that break glass, it should survive.jjharris144 said:Really appreciate the recommendations! You could strategically place some nomex along contact points of the nest. I did something similar for my table. Have taken it through the Appalachians and completely off road at Hidden Lake here. Secure shifting of the innards with 3 wood shims during transport. Not one problem.jjharris144 said:Really appreciate the recommendations!
