Any buddy got a little history on the word barbeque, barbecue, bar-b-que or bbq. Any other ways to spell it? The reason for asking is KCBS uses barbecue and IBCS uses barbeque. Is this a regional thing? If so, it must be confusing on the dividing line. Or, is some of the world like me and can't spell worth a hoot.....[p]
Enjoy the games....Tom[p]

Sandbagger,[p]Most popular is the theory that barbecue came from the Taino who were members of the Arawak tribe in the Caribbean. Spanish conquistadors picked up the word barbacoa (which refers to a raised platform over coals), and the word "barabicu" (which means the sacred fire pit)and it spread from there.[p]The different spellings are truly interesting. I have seen a matchbook collection from Q joints with a bunch of variations including the acronyms. The logos and slogans were also neat.[p]~thirdeye~
