BBQ Lighter

Any ideas of a good bbq lighter out there? I use the little fire starters by BGE, but looking for a good lighter to light those. It's been pretty windy here recently and my regular lighter just isn't cutting it. Anyone have any experience/recommendations with torch or butane lighters?

Amazon link to the one you use?

Will this work with a regular coleman propane tank you can pick up at a local store? Or does the tank need to be more specific?

I see you are like me - you prefer something other than those cheap disposable lighters to light your cubes, packets, oil soaked towels etc. After years of the cheapies I bought this refillable BernzOmatic butane and it is easy to use and quick to light with it's intense blue flame whether it be very windy or even raining. I think the cost including a large refill bottle was under $15 and I believe it will last me for years to come! BTW note the opposite end - that is a bottle cap opener - though I have never understood the reason to combine the two! Do you know where you purchased that at?

Yes - Menard's, but I bet other big box stores also may carry them.squezz said:Do you know where you purchased that at?Re-gasketing the USA one yard at a time -

Salado TX & 30A FL: Egg Family: 3 Large and a very well used Mini, added a Mini Max when they came out (I'm good for now). Just given another Mini to add to the herd. -
lowes also have butane soldering irons, never thought to use it to light the egg but it would. also i can do wiring out in the boat and its main use is to thaw out frozen padlocks on my trailer in the winter. the tip comes off for soldering small copper tubing but i think it might be undersized for anything over 3/8 tubing
fukahwee maineyou can lead a fish to water but you can not make him drink it -
If you have an Ace Hardware these work great and are much cheaper than BGE brand.

I use the Weber fire starter cubes. They're cheaper than the BGE squares, easier to find in stores, and they light much easier than the BGE ones.

I set a chimney of coals on top of the side burner on my gas grill. If toss the gas grill, I'll get one of these (like Mickey's pictures):

Same here! BTW this was an end-of-year bargain I got at Menard's - a mere $.50 a box - I bought all they had! That was a few years ago and used my last box this Spring - I thought they might have dried out or such, but they didn't, so if you see a bargain go for it!Farbuck said:+1 on the Rutland cubes.
