HELP/Raining real hard.

Beef Lover,
I put a rain cap over the daisy wheel. If you close the whell your heat will drop. I made my rain cap from a large coffee can and I cut holes on the side to prevent the rain from dripping in. The can was 7 in. diameter. Some her have found a regular rain cap the fits but I yet to find one.
Everyday is Saturday and tomorrow is always Sunday. -
Beef Lover, Not.

Retired RailRoader,
You can set the ceramic rain cap partially over the daisy wheel, enough to keep the rain out. Just remember to take it off before you open the lid or you will have a broken rain cap. -RP

<p />Beef Lover,

for the future monsoon season go to any big box like orange or blue and buy yourself a metal vent cap - it will sit over Miss Daisey - just be careful as it will get H O T

RRP,[p]That's is cool but have no idea what this means "go to any big box like orange or blue and buy yourself a metal vent cap". Can you elaborate where you got this or how you constructed it?[p]Thanks,
Paul

Paul,
a big box is slang for home improvement stores which are those caverns of space - such as orange (Home Depot) or blue (Lowes). There's no construction necessary - just make sure the throat is about 7" to sit over Miss Daisey.

Menards carries the exact size for the rain cap. I also have a piece of duct that bends that I use over the chimney to start the lump. I am sure Home Depot carries these also.
