Just ordered a Thermapen that's back lit with a silicone cover.

Bought a Large, with plate setter, nest, and nest handler on a Thursday...bought a Mini and a stand on Sunday..bought the String lights, table cloth weights, and a 3 pc tool set

This Egg stuff is almost as bad as owning a Harley

The Dude..a Mini and a Large Egg..a DigiQ DX (BGE Green)..some Cast Iron...a Thermapen.............and an Ol' Fashion

Thanks....yeah I was asking you. I figure if I have to open the dome...I want to get in and out so I got the Thermapen. I live in Wisconsin so it's gonna be dark at 5:00 in the winter and I plan on using the BGE (I got a Large and Mini) during the winter. I used to have Weber kettles and the damn things never go hot enough in the winter...

@bcsnave‌ you're gonna love the egg during the winter. You should see no fight to hold or reach temp in the cold weather.

@bcsnave, congrats on the purchases I hope you enjoy them. But this Egg thing is worse than the Harley thing when it comes to buying extras. If they sold Egg clothing like they sell Harley clothes I would be broke.

Actually a good BGE dealer would have given you the hat and a beer holder as well!

@bcsnave‌, the BGE works awesome in the winter. Once the ceramic comes up to a stabile temp, opening and closing briefly is fine. You'll be amazed how quickly the temp jumps back up after opening it.

Just a small tip to keep in mind. If possible, face the bottom vent to the opposite side that the wind blows. On one of my low and slows, the snow was blowing sideways with 20mph winds. Since the snow was blowing horizontal directly into the vent, the screen would ice up. The only reason the temp in the egg dropped was because of the ice blocking the air. Every time I cleaned the ice off, the temps would climb again. I've egged at about 5°without problems. I'm sure some of the Canadians could give lots of tips about eggin in the cold,

We don't get near the snow that you guys get, we just get crazy storms every once in a while. It always seems like they happen when I'm committed to a cook that people are depending on.
