Crack... Use it or not?

Hey guys just found a hairline crack under my base:( should I use it or just switch it with my spare base and dome I have from warranty that's sitting in my garage ? Kinda wanted to run this egg to the ground before I switched but maybe this is a fire waiting to happen?

Thanks

Mine has been like that for a year or so. Keep meaning to "file a claim" but still haven't. I would definely do something about it if my egg was on a flammable surface.

I hate it when I go to the kitchen for food and all I find are ingredients!

I'd file a claim now and just use it with caution until you get the replacement.  I see wood underneath so just keep an eye on it.

Wooden table on wooden deck attached to a wooden house:(

Already got a spare dome and base in my garage just liked the idea of a spare on hand. Maybe I'll just pay attention and if it gets worse change it out?

That's clean across the bottom. Proceed with caution! Given how long they take to cool down I'd switch it, but good luck either way.

Yeah switch that. The crack expands with heat.

Problem solved, never thought I'd see a new gasket again. New dome and base:) assembly was a pain as usual as I try to get everything perfectly even but oh well...close enough:)
Do I need to keep the first few cooks lower temp? I can't remember?

Thanks for the info!  Gotta love those red spacers that I wish came with my first egg makes for keeping the bands evenly spaced so much easier. Oh and I now have the cheapo plastic handle but I do have two wooden ones as spares:)

How did you manage to get a new dome and base if the previous one wasn't cracked? Just curious. Thats like getting a free egg!

My first egg developed a chip in the dome from constantly tightening the bands after high heat pizza cooks and band slippage.Once I recieved my new dome I tried double nutting and the slipping bands stopped so I had a spare dome. The base I kinda got in the middle of that issue when I thought my base was warped(not round) and thus causing my bands to slip due to uneven tightness of the bands.I hope and pray my bands dont slip this time cause it was a real pan in the ass!!!!!! The new egg expierience has worn off so I not gonna stress it like my first egg!!! As long as it holds temp and shuts down relativley fast Im ok:)

Surprisingly enough, this is not the first time I've been asked that question.  Although it's usually phrased as an accusation.

So should my old egg become a flower pot???? Kinda feel as if its still useful as an egg just not on the deck? Maybe as a second egg down on the lawn. The crack is almost unoticable and i'm sure the bottom won't just drop out will it.....has it ever????

That is where mine cracked, I didn't notice it until the wood under it started on fire.

I've had a few like that. Never worried about them and nothing bad happened. I have a concrete deck though. Did 1000* pizza last night in one.
