Hello boys.

I hate to barge in and ask questions without properly introducing myself but that will have to wait.

I'm breaking my butt cherry today with a 4# butt.

Going Turbo.

Put it on at 2:10 and she's dialed in at 350.

Any idea how long I can expect as far as cook time?

Foil at 160*?

Thanks in advance. I love this here forum!

    I'm gonna guess in the neighborhood of 2.5-3 hours plus or minus.  You don't have to foil unless you want it to cook faster.

    At 350, you do not want to foil.  Figure about 45 minutes per pound, but know that butts can be butts - sometimes they take longer.  Never had one take less than 45 minutes/lb.

    She's around 155 after 2 hours.

    Gonna let it ride all the way to 190.

    Wrap in foil and rest a bit?

    Actually, with a butt, I would let it go until between 200 and 205 if you're planning on pulling it.  Probe it after reaching 200 and when it probes very smoothly, you are there.  No need to foil or rest, unless you want to hold at temp prior to serving.  When it's done, pull and eat.

    @tksmoke: Thanks.

    Just probed in a few places and I'm getting from the 160's to the 180's.

    Don't want to eat until around 6:30 so I may pull it off at 200 and wrap in foil until ready to pull and eat?

    Smells damn good.
