Just ordered my first ever Egg (large) which arrives in 10 days. Really looking forward to giving it a go and wondered if you guys could through a couple of tips my way to help me through the learning curve. Cant wait for doing the steaks on it!

Congrats! Welcome to the club!
Adjust vents as you reach target temp - don't overshoot as it takes a while to get it back down.
For low and slows when you reach target temp and put in cold meat it will drop. Give it around an hour to stabilize again. Avoid the urge to mess with vents and 'chase temps'
Have fun and experiment with temps!

Welcome. Best advice is to peruse this forum. Put "advice for newbie" in the search box. Search YouTube for how to light a big green egg.Richmond and Mathews County, VA. Large BGE, Weber gas, little Weber charcoal. Vintage ManGrates. Little reddish portable kamado that shall remain nameless here. Very Extremely Stable Genius.

Welcome to the forum! Plus one on the search, there is a ton of info here and some really cool people as well. Don't take things too seriously, take a day to just play with temp settings on the egg by adjusting top and bottom. And at the very least, have a decent camera phone... Posts without pictures of the food are worthless around here no matter how good your prose is.

Whatever you do, just remember it's supposed to be fun, and that even "mistakes" are likely to taste better than most other "nailed it" cooks on gassers, stoves, what have you...
