    you need to use a little force to put the hex head through the round hole. I assembled both my BGE's, and the plastic retainers didn't come off easily...

    Thanks but the problem is that the holes don't line up to the point where I can press the retainer down over both hex heads at the same time. Perhaps these retainers are for a smaller-sized assembly, I don't know.

    So... without the BGE retainers working, I had to get creative. Two clamps and two zip ties did the trick!
