Help Needed With XL Hinge Adjustment

I purchased my XL used from craigslist so it had to be disassembled for transport. I used the motherships Youtube video to put the hinges back together. After a few months I started having issues opening and closing the dome, it would get hung up somehow. Today was the day to disassemble the hinges and start over. Again I used the video, and the thing seems to open and close fine for now, but the dome seems to crab back and forth (sideways) when closing the dome. Any thoughts? Thanks, Mike

I had a similar issue.  With the lid closed, I loosened the bolts (but don't unbolt anything) where the hinges with slots attach to the egg and loosened the arms where they pivot.  When I loosened the right one enough, the culprit self adjusted.  Just be careful with your fingers. I then tightened everything in place and now works fine.

My xl started grabbing like you mention. It was the spring hitting the dome as it opened and closed. The spring hanger on the dome got loose and twisted backwards. I opened the dome so there was no tension on the spring, loosened the nut on the spring hanger, adjusted back in place and tightened the nut back. Haven't had anymore problems.

also, be sure to put some oil on all hinge points. and when you get the bolts tightened on hinges, back off 1/4 turn and add oil to those as well.

    works like a charm
