Built-in Granite EGG

I am building a new outdoor kitchen with granite counter tops. Has anyone dropped an EGG into a granite top? Do I need space around it? I have an XL Egg - any comments or suggestions would be welcome.

I would think you would need space around the egg for expansion.

I'm doing a table now with a granite countertop. I just measured the circumference of the egg at the level of the table top and divided by pi. Then I added about 1.25 inches for good measure.
They are cutting it now, so I should have it by the end of the week. I'll let you know how it turns out.

You need room to open the lid, and plenty of room (and ventilation) to allow heated air to flow up and away from your cabinetry. Wood pyrolysis is no joke.
