Need help: X-mas gift for my husband

Desperate housewife,
Please dont buy him a book, what he really wants is another egg.
If he has a large already he would probably like a small. If he already has more than one egg, then what he really want's is some nice meat.
How bout a standing prime rib roast or some nice pork ribs, or some seasoning stuff or anything but please not a book.

Desperate housewife, I have really used "Smoke & Spice" by Jamison. The Ain't Momma's Meatloaf recipe is made for the egg. Lots of rubs, sauces and sides as well as classics.

Borders ,
Thanks a lot!

Desperate housewife,
Dr. BBQ's Big Time BBQ Cookbook is a must have in my opinion.[p]Filled with great recipes that work!
-
Bobby-Q,
It sounds great![p]Thank you so much
-
Does he have a Thermapen instant thermometer?[p]Much better than a cookbook. A little more $$$ also.[p]Toy Man

Desperate housewife,
I strongly recommend: Peace, Love, & Barbecue : Recipes, Secrets, Tall Tales, and Outright Lies from the Legends of Barbecue by Mike Mills and Amy Mills Tunnicliffe. This is one great read as well of good recipes. Also as someone else mentioned Dr. BBQ's Big Time Barbecue cookbook by Ray Lampe a egger himself. I also like the Steven Raichlen books as well as Paul Kirk's Championship Barbecue. I hope this helps and good luck with the Christmas shopping.
Everyday is Saturday and tomorrow is always Sunday. -
Bobby-Q,
Agreed. This one should be first on the list. Of course what any true Egghead wants is another Egg :>)[p]Dennis

Desperate housewife,[p]Putting myself in your hubby's shoes for a moment, books are great, but does he have all the "must have" eggcessories?[p]plate setter
remote meat thermometer (wireless)
grid extender
electric starter or MAPP gas torch
dutch oven
pizza peel
pizza stone
thermapen[p]This list is arguable, of course.[p]Woody[p]

Desperate housewife,[p]I forgot Wicked Good lump charcoal, Dr BBQ's sauce, and a wide selection of Dizzy Pig rubs[p]Woody

ChrisC,
Thanks, "Barbecue All Year Long" should start showing up around May 1st, the official date is May 11th. Amazon has it listed now, but won't ship until then.
Ray Lampe Dr. BBQ -
For all the Alton Brown-type "nerds" out there, this a fun and somewhat educational (dare I say that word) book.
How to Read a French Fry: And Other Stories of Intriguing Kitchen Science by Russ Parson - it's only $11.20 at Amazon so it's a great stocking stuffer and still allows you to buy him another egg, a thermapen, a guru or any of the other posted recommendations.
Good luck. -
Thank you guys!
It was really helpful.[p]...and to all of you - I hope your holiday shopping will be nice and easy
-
Desperate housewife,[p] What a lucky man he is! [p]I would be so proud if someone where to give me a customized or personalized handle for my egg from our own "LawnRanger". Adds a special touch to the egg, plus you can have him put a "special note" on the handle for you![p]Just a thought!
Happy Holidays

drbbq,
Spoken like a true author! No books aren't so bad. They are the best
when you get to meet the author and have it signed.

Desperate housewife,
Here's another couple ideas. BTW the ornament shown here is the one Chuck made for me and I believe it was his first one. The 2000 is the date we first became eggers and our Christmas tree has babbles and such to remind us of wonderful thoughts and milestones in our 39 years of marriage so far!

Woody,
Thanks for all the suggestions.
Actually, he has a lot of accessories already and the 'Pit Minder E-Temp' is the one that he is getting for X-mas. But this is something he "strongly hinted" about and expects (I actually got it already).
I still want something that he doesn't know about.[p]Thanks againg and Happy holidays!
